We're Playing By My Rules Now!

Hey guys! These last 2 weeks have been overall pretty good. I can tell that I'm continuing to get better and better as I'll occasionally catch myself doing things that the "old" Elder Blacker would do.

In terms of what I'm doing to serve my mission, I don't know how the heck to classify myself. I could say that I'm a service missionary, but not really and I could say that I'm a proselyting missionary, but not really. It's actually so cool. I remember growing up and people would play "Dekan rules" for Ping Pong (Basically just play until it hits the floor). I feel like I'm playing Dekan rules on my mission. I've become even more of an anomaly over the past 2 weeks swapping back and forth from service and proselyting all willy nilly. Basically, I get to wake up and decide whether I want to go proselyting or service for the day or even for part of the day. There have been days where I spent the entire day proselyting, days where I spent the entire service, days where I was proselyting in the morning and service at night, or service in the morning and proselyting at night, and even one day where I went proselyting in the morning service in the afternoon and back to proselyting for the evening. It's absolutely bonkers that this is what I'm able to do. There's literally 0 other people that have had this freedom before as a missionary. Also because either way, proselyting or service, I'm in a trio I basically have 4 companions right now; which has got to be a record.

I decided that I need to be a service missionary for another transfer and that came about by 2 things. 1. After proselyting a couple days I was mentally exhausted and couldn't the next day and 2. The next week I accidentally forgot my medication a couple days (not consecutively) and just absolutely crashed. Both times I forgot, the next day it felt like I was back at square 1 for about the next 24 hours. I can't believe how reliant I am on medication, it's certainly a blessing to live in a time where it's available. The cool thing about being a service missionary for the next transfer is that I don't actually have to be in service for the whole transfer. President Johnson has a companion and an area ready for me as soon as I'm ready for it. So if after just 2 weeks I'm ready,  I just call President and will go back to proselyting within the next couple days.

I love Dekan Rules and it's so so so so cool that this is my mission experience. My mission is great, President Johnson is great, Utah is great, and Jesus Christ is great.

Thanks everybody love you, Elder Blacker
