Sacking Out Never Was Happiness

It was not the best of weeks and it was my own fault. Basically if a missionary is a lazy missionary we call them a sack as in a sack of potatoes. There were 3 separate days where I know I should've just gotten out the door and done missionary work, but I didn't, I stayed inside for some reason. Again, sacking out never leads to happiness.

Other than that, we had our car taken away. Honestly it's probably a big reason why I was a sack. Our car getting taken went something like this, I got a call and the vehicle coordinator said, Elder Blacker your wrist is healed right? Me: Yeeah. Vehicle Coordinator: Good the Sisters want their car back. So now we don't have a car and I don't have a bike because I crashed it, so we've been walking. Basically, we haven't been in the Kayscreek stake since the car was taken, like at all. Not even once. Our relationship with the Kayscreek leadership is rocky anyways. They have a meeting that lasts for 2 hours during what President Johnson has termed prime time, which is where we're supposed to be focused on members of other faiths. Anyways, I attended this meeting with Stewart even though it was not productive, but once Elder Titus got here we stopped attending. The meeting wasn't productive anyways, for the first 3 weeks we didn't attend we had a 5 minute conversation afterward where they summed up what we needed to know. Yeah, not a productive meeting. Anyways, they got mad that we weren't attending and called our mission president to tell him what bad missionaries we are and to make us attend the meeting. That somehow both achieved its purpose and backfired. It achieved its purpose when I got a call from President where he was mad at me for attending the meeting in the first place and it backfired because the Stake President was told that his meeting couldn't take place during that time. They also refuse to give us keys to the church buildings, which made it really hard to schedule a baptism. We ended up moving the baptism to the other stake center, which we like more anyways because the leadership supports our efforts so much better.

Transfers are this week, I'm staying in my same area with my same companion. For the most part I'm happy about that, but I was pretty sure I was going to be leaving because my personal growth was stagnate the entire transfer. With Elder Stewart I felt like I was learning and growing just about every week except the last two where Stewart was preparing to go home and that kinda took priority. I'm glad though to be with Titus again. This last week in particular I was ready to head out and work, but for some reason I just sat there and waited for Elder Titus to ask if I was ready to leave. I'm determined this transfer to take the lead my fair share of times to make sure we get out and work. Elder Titus is perfectly fine to work as well, it's not a struggle to get him out of the house and because of this, I'm confident this transfer will be better than this last one even though I had a ton of fun this last transfer.

This transfer is called the United Transfer as English, Spanish, and Service missionaries are going to be working together. I'm staying in my same area with my same companion. The only difference is Elder Patterson (Patty), who drew the picture below, is leaving the household. I've lived with him the entire time I've been here so that's sad, but overall I'm happy with the transfer board. I had the chance to work with a service missionary this week. We were at a member house because they're friends with someone that we're hoping to teach. She mentioned her son was a service missionary, so I asked him if he wanted to come along with us to a lesson we had in 20 minutes. He got dressed and we went to the lesson with the inactive member. It was awesome, at one point I read a scripture and then asked him if he'd ever felt a time where he felt directed by God. He gave an awesome response and gave an awesome testimony, I'm excited to continue to work with him and other service missionaries.

Becoming United with Christ,
Elder Blacker
